My wife and I really enjoyed our 2007 Ford Focus until someone rear ended her at about 40mph. The car is totaled and we are considering purchasing another 2008 or 2009 Focus. We averaged 30 mpg regularly each month. The MSRP on a new 4 door is about 18,500. I'm willing to spend it, but here is my question. Is there a car that is as comfortable and economical that might be a better purchase for that price? If so I would like to know what it is and why you think it would be better. I have always purchased American cars, but am willing to change for a better car at the same price.
