What can you do with a PhD in Media & Film?

I've been chasing around for something to take my PhD in for quite some time now, and, after watching a movie I rather like, plus an infusion of Bourbon, suddenly had the inspiration to google for a PhD in Media & Film - how astounded I was to find a university right next door to my current workplace, offering the very degree.
Movies and set design are my lifeblood. I could write, draw, design, and film for the rest of my life. I'd love to become the next David Lynch or Quentin Tarantino. Would a PhD in Media and Film bring me closer to that?
My background is in transportation- and industrial design, especially when it comes to the digital side of it (3D Modelling).
Would I fit into that?
You can tell I'm really excited right now.

It seems like you have a plan. The good thing is that you can look for a job and have an edge over those who don't. Sorry, but that's reality.
