What can untreated Allergies do to you?

Hey there, I went to an allergist a few years ago and was told that I was not allergic to dust, which I did not believe because as soon as I come into contact with dust, it affects me. However, dust continued to plague me.

Last week I had a food allergy test and they also tested me for inhalants and I was allergic to both dust (3) and dust mites (4+) as well as dogs (4++), cats (4++) and some grasses (3s). I start allergy shots next week for dust, dust mites, dogs and cats. I don't have pets but there are some in my building.

My feelings are light-headedness, brian fog, problems sleeping and going into certain malls is just a killer, like I am in another world, disconnected feelings. And when I sneeze, I bring the house down.

Last week, my right ear started popping in the evening and my jaw below it was sore for about 10 hours.

I got one yesterday and my stomach has been upset and I've been crabby.

I know that it will get better in the long run.

Has your allergies also affected your digestive system with post nasal drip and such? Nausea some days?

By the way, my allergy shots will not begin until the week of February 2 because the potion is not ready.

It is a relief to hear that I am not the only person on earth feeling so lightheaded and nausea from the allergy shots. I only had 3 up to now and cannot even go to work. Not sure what to do with allergies & asthma if I stop them...

Yes I get 1 shot in each arm.

Glad to here that we should feel a bit better after a month.

I had a reaction to the pills( singulair ) I was fine with the shots.

She said that really only Black people and females have reactions to the shots, I itched a little bit. But nothing major.

And yes I'm covered a 100% for the shots.

I'll check back in a few weeks. Let me know if you feel better from the shots.

Good luck.

Yep, like in my shoulders and neck. Just felt at times like I had the flu and some days worse than others.

Are you taking allergy shots? I start my 3rd week of them today for dust, dust mites, dogs, cats, certain trees, grasses and mold. 2 shots per week for 6 weeks, then 1 shot per week for 6 weeks and so on.

Congratulations! I started my shots yesterday and dreaded the pain; however, I felt almost nothing in both arms. I was stoked! Round 2 is tomorrow; hence, Monday and Wednesday of each week.

Let me know how yours go next week.

I have just completed my 6 weeks of 2 a week and start once a week next week for 6 months.

I am starting feel a lot of subtle, positive changes....I can now go into to large stores like Target and not have a lot of issues, also my sleeping is better and I can now wake up and go back to sleep, my stomach is starting to feel better, my balance is better, I am not as crabby or irritable or depressed, and I no longer feel like I am in a fog all the time. One strange thing is that my tongue is no longer as covered with the white patches like it was before starting the shots. Also, I have been craving spicy fooRAB and lobster and crab burgers. Maybe the lobster and crab stuff is the from the cat serum thank God for Capital Grille...LOL!

How long have you been getting the shots and how often? I get a shot in each arm. I hope that you start to see some relief soon. Remeraber that are subtle and building.

Note, they keep increasing the dosage each time and I sometimes feel the effects that day or the next day like running noses, sneeze or such. I am glad that I only have to do them 1 a week for a while now.

Aaron

I know. I plan to continue mine because my mother suffered lots with allergies (sinuses) and I finally want some relief from mine. I am not as nauseated now but my stomach is still sort of out of sorts (bloated, crampy) but my allergies caused a lot it in the first place so I guess that since I am being injected with the allergens now, it's par for the course.

Let's stick the shots out together and hopefully you will be able to go to work soon.

How many shots are you getting per week. I am get them twice a week.

Yes.. I have diarrhea and nausea... I dont know if that the nasal drip or not? Its bad in the morning..

Keep me posted on you feel once you start the shots.

Yes my allergy Doc told me that eye floater are a BIG sign of allergies.

Black floating spots in the eyes. I have 7 in my left, and 2 in the right. :dizzy:

Yes, I'm taking a antihistamine once a day, and a nose spray. I start shots next week.

Aarondawg...

Does your brain fog go away? or is it come and go? I feel like this 24/7. My vision is blurry, tons of eye floaters.. :dizzy:

I actually stopped them! I only had 3 and I felt very dizzy like fainting all the time... It took me 2 weeks locked in the house to recover. Also my Ige levels were messed up and got my asthma back which means cortisone. Much better now, but it seems that the shots are not the best option for everybody!! I hope you feel better... I have decided to check out alternative treatments like yoga, homeopathy, energy therapies and see...

They kinda started me over on the shots.

After the 3rd time of going I had mild effects from the shots, The DR panicked and wanted me to start over with the lowest dose.

I asked her if I should feel a little worse because she is giving me shot of what I am allergic to. She said no. ( I have the worst allergy DR ever)

anyways Im going to stick it out, I'm just going to say anything about how I feel any more.

Good Luck, I'll check back in a month or so. :p:wave:

I wish SOME doctor would have told me that! I freaked out when I saw my first floater. And I notice now that when I am really foggy, I seem to notice those stupid things more.

Floaters= most annoying things ever. They can also be a clear looking spot, black spot, line, translucent. They pretty much move with your vision, so if you are at a computer all day, ugh... its so annoying! :(

Some days more so than before. I just feel spacy when it happens. Also, I needed glasses 2 years ago because the doctor said that I was nearsighted. Not sure if allergies were the culprit.

Good luck with your shots too. We will both get some relief.

That is too bad. All people are different as well as I am sure that serum injection are different too. I do not suffer from asthma, rather environmental allergies.

I committed to sticking with the shots from Day 1 and knew that I would probably feel worse before feeling better. My frienRAB have helped me through them and keep positive.

Good luck with your alternative treatments.
