What can I use to draw on my shoes that won't wash off?

I plan on buying white shoes, then drawing on them myself.

I figure it's a great way to save money and have super neat-o shoes.

But I don't know what to use. Will a simple sharpie suffice?

I don't want it to rub or wash off, ya dig?
