A while ago my mom told me that I'll probably have to start getting pap tests with my check ups soon because I'm hitting that age soon...
What can I expect? The idea of some other person poking around in my vagina makes me really nervous...
If you can give me any information at all I'd be really grateful. Maybe you can give suggestions on how to calm myself down about them, too.

Eh...apparently my mom was incorrect when she told me I was going to have to deal with these soon, because after looking at something online briefly, I learned that you only have to have pap smears if you're 21 or older. Is this true, or was the website making a sweeping generalization?
I'm 15. My mom and I were discussing how I need to have my annual check up and for whatever reason that came to her mind.
She said something like, "It'll only be a while now," so I assumed something like 16 or 17, haha.
And I am not sexually active, nor am I seeking birth control. I was just wondering out of curiosity.
Also, having a metal rod shoved up me sounds most unpleasant.
