i keep up regular maintanence but i was also thinking to have my timing chain replaced its got 160 k on it what else can i do to make it run for a while?
keep it regularly maintained if you want to make it last 'forever'. Don't wait to get a problem taken care of. <for example> I blew out my catalytic converter because my O2 sensor was bad- it was running crappy and I didn't get it fixed for awhile. I had to buy a new converter. It wasn't cheap.
Proper maintenance is the answer. Always keep the engine in tip-top condition. Check if it's well lubricated. As for the body, always keep it clean; buying a car cover and having a garage really helps.
But convert it to diesel. it will put out a ton of torque and last a million miles.
How about one from an old Mercedes?

Keep on taking care of it! You're overdue on that timing chain.Mobil 1 has a synthetic oil for older, higher mileage, engines that will help. (I've been using Mobil 1 15w50 in my '90 Pontiac GrandAm since it was new and at 251,000 miles it's still going strong.)
