What can I do to make 250 HP on my 1982 Chevy 305 HO pickup engine?

My goals is to give this engine 250 HP. The engine is stock except I put 601 heads on it. I am planning on replacing the intake with an aluminum edelbrock intake and replacing the Q-jet carb with an Edelbrock 600 CFM carb.

Will the 601 heads plus these simple mods get the engine to 250 HP?

please dont do this!!! you're making a HUGE mistake-i realize that you may want to be different or are just being lazy but dont make the mistake of modifying a 305, 350 engines are far too cheap & easy to install to make doing ANYTHING but hauling that 305 to the scrapyard or parting it out-just plain pointless & a waste of time! most carbed 350s can be bought for 350 or less used & swap in with no troubles at all-for large gains, as well as the fact that they are EXTREMELY strongly supported by the aftermarket whereas the 305s really arent so much due to them being crap ass motors.

Why would you increase HP? It will not make faster. Increase torque and you will go faster.. The 305 is only 190HP and 240 torque. Putting on high performance parts without figuring where HP and torque is coming from could cost power. An intake and carb which it already has will do nothing.
