You will find that many, perhaps most, cars have scratches immediately below the ignition key boss.
There are 2 main reasons ;
First is scratching the finish with the tip of the key when putting the key in by feel and not looking.
The second - and major culprit - is that most people have a BUNCH of keys and when the cars key is in the ignition switch the others are swing around below it as you drive and constantly hitting the panel around the key hole. The only certain answer here is NOT to have a bunch of keys, perhaps you could have your car key on its own ring with a soft leather fob or little soft toy attached to act as a buffer. There is not much you can do about the existing scratches but the above solution would stop them getting worse.
