What can I do now to help in the future when I become a lawyer?

When I am older I want to become a lawyer, then maybe senator, then maybe governor. (Big dreamer! :D) I definitely want to be a lawyer, though. I'm about to start high school, (Yes, I'm only fourteen. I like to plan ahead. I haven't had the best life so far financially wise so I know being a lawyer will help with that. And I've seen the things some politicians have done that are very bad, I know I would never do stuff like that) I've gotten really good grades all my life and planning to continue doing so throughout the rest of my education. When I am older I want to go to Harvard law school. Any words of advice and encouragement? Any words of wisdom? Is there anything I can do now to help prepare for my future career? Thanks so much! God bless! :)
I really enjoy history, politics, and arguing with people about what I think is right.

Politics not so much but if it's available at your school, continue to study history and add philosophy, it will help you a great deal.

There's a saying that you want to take to heart when it comes to politics: Never say never. Politics makes strange bedfellows.

What that means:
Let's say you are an environmentalist and a lawyer working for a non profit that is known for their stand on protecting the environment.

Now let's say there is a large corporation that offers a big grant to your cash poor employer (all non profits) but the big corporation also supplies weapons to multiple governments.

Do you recommend taking the money so your employer can do its work better or stand on principle knowing the corporation is part of the problem?

As I stated, take philosophy instead of politics if you want to be more effective as a lawyer.

Max is right, stay in school and keep the grades high.

'and arguing with people about what I think is right.'

That makes you an activist, not a lawyer.

I recommend that you get a very good education at a good University.

If you are interested in Politics you should get a very good background in a number of subjects.

You definitely need a very good background in economics.

Also you need a good background in Sociology and Political Science.

In addition I strongly recommend a good background in science and technology.
