What can I do about my betta fish?

Betta's live for over 5 years, so they are far from senile.

To keep them happy and alive - keep them in clean water, in enough space to allow for some plants and swimming room, and do not overfeed them or their containers. They thrive best in heated water of about 78 degrees, and like all fish will also thrive best in a filtered and aerated tank.

To breed them you should get yourself a book and scour the internet for ideas, you won't learn much from a simple yahoo post.

I have three Beautiful Betta's and they have been alive for a whole year now. What are some signs that they are getting old and what can I do to keep them happy and alive. I also want to breed them how woul i do that.

Rag-tag fins, a less active life are two signs of age. My oldest beta lived for 3 years, but I've heard they can live longer.

I tried to breed beta fish one time, but I was never able to get it done... Not sure if I didn't keep at it long enough or what. I got a big 10 gallon aquarium, and put a divider in the middle. I didn't fill it full but just put about 4 inches of room temperature water. I put the male on one side and the female on the other side until they get used to each other (for a couple days), and then I let them together. I can't remember how, but somehow you're supposed to be able to tell when the female beta is ready to breed, a slightly different shade of scales or something like that. :-)

Hope this helps somewhat! I'd suggest that you research it on the internet and see what you can find. :-)
