What can a 13 year old do to make a major change to the environment?

I really want to do something to help the environment in a bigger way then just turning off lights, walking and taking the train or bus to school which I've been doing for a while now. Is there any organisations or campaigns I can be involved in? Or can I do something myself? Please help.
Yes, I know that one girl cannot make a MAJOR change but If I join all the other people doing this, then It might make a major change.

The problem, as it exists at the moment, has taken pretty a large chunk of the human race over a century to unwittingly achieve.
It will take the actions of millions to have an effect in reversing the problem. While I think morons who answer these sort of questions with "I gona drive my hummer in first gear" are in a minority of future life time KFC employees, I think the majority do take this seriously as can easily be seen by the sales of fuel efficient cars and simple things like CFL lights.
Deniers can, and do, make many claims about polls and petitions but the recent collapse of several large u.s. car companies who had never bothered to address the growing demand for smaller fuel efficient cars. While some play up the fact that in the U.S. sales of CFL dropped in 2008 I can think of a simple reason for this reliability, from my experience you don't need to keep buying them I replaced all the lights in my house ~5 years ago (when they were still quite expensive) even so over that 5 years I have only had to replace two were in the past it was more like two every couple of months.
Apart from the individual saving the estimate that around 20% of U.S. electrical consumption is from electrical lights and the fact that CFLs use around 30% the power of an incandescent should tell anyone with even basic math skills the sort of energy saving that could be made just by the simple act of everyone change to CFLs.

Plant a lot of trees, this will neutralize the carbon you breath out by a wide gap and the carbon you emit from maybe other things you do in your life time.

democrats care more about the environment then those oil humping republicans! don't talk about the president like that. ok, now back to you. you can get trash bags and pick up the garbage. talk to others about the importance of keeping their neighborhood clean and beautiful. get birdfeeders. start a garden. write letters to your congressman and senate members. plant trees if you can. use your imagination. walk more.

Individually, you can educate yourself and become more aware of some of the major issues of the day. Within a few years, you will be able to get a driving permit, and soon after that be able to get your own car. Those kind of choices -- how you behave as a consumer in the teenage and young adult market -- can make a huge impact.

Collectively, look for volunteer opportunities in your community that get you outside and connect you to the environment. September 26 is National Public Lands Day. Check out the site below, find a project in your neighborhood, and get involved with your family and friends. By being actively involved, by learning more about the changing world around you, and by sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with others, you will be making a significant change.

Good luck!

always shower, not bathes, unplug things that are not in use (i.e. phone chargers, use electrical splitter), try to take a bath 2 minutes shorter, etc.

Try to look it up in the Disney Channel Send It On program. They will tell you how to save the planet by yourself and also try to convince your friends to do the same.

Hope this helps ;)

just think.

try to avoid the consumerism.

try to not buy crap.

and try not to get caught up in all the "green livin" hype.

do try to be gentle with our earth.

becareful of "organizations" or "campaigns". they have a habit of "dues", "fees", and other forms of business involved.

the thing you can do is lead by example. mow the grass less often. plant trees. compost. grow your own little garden. when ya turn 16 consider puttin a car off. bicycle more often (becareful). if or when ya get a car have it be a ford fiesta or something like that instead of a suv.

p.s.-
the more lightning ya harness = more cheap electricity people get = more comfortable lives = more time to practice makin babies = more babies = bigger mess. im not sayin dont go to college to learn how to harness lightning....i'm just sayin nikola tesla wanted to "help" everybody...but the powers that are took his ideas and turned them into weapons.

THINK FOR YOURSELF!

I really don't believe any on person can do a huge amount to change the environment. It takes a lot of people working together to bring about a change.
You need to realize something though. Just because you hear about the environment being a big problem on the nightly news, does not mean that it really is. Many things are talked about on the news and television shows that are later proved to be nothing but stories and propaganda by people who want the public to believe in them so they can get things done the way they want them. AND, that isn't necessarily the best way..
Yes, there are problems, but they are not nearly as bad as you have come to believe.

You cannot make any change. The rulers of this earth, which is located at the bottom of the sea, are snakes and are not our species. But our ancestors have contracted with them to feed them us in exchange for freedom from slavery under the Black Egyptians. So the snakes, their gods, had taken them to their lairs, but they had to feed the snakes their children ad their wives in exchange for "land of milk and honey."

The snakes can kill them, their wives, and their children at will. So now they can flood the earth like before and start over again. Dinosaurs are lizards, a giant type of snakes, and they still exist. We are living in the land of lizards.

The rulers of this earth are snakes. The snakes want to relocate. Since they can clone pods for their offspring, they no longer need to honor their contract, which they never honor by the way. They took advantage of the greed of their worshipers. Every worshiper is intestinally impregnated with snakes called worms and holy spiris or ghost

no one person can really make a huge impact. it's when lots of people work together, that's what makes a difference. one thing you can do though is start recycling and try to get your family to recycle as well.
