what brand of bicycle do you recommend...?

I'm looking to get a hybrid, but more of a roady than a mountain bike.
I've looked at some, but still don't know which is good...

Cannondale, Schwinn, Trek

I'm leaning more towards Trek's FX bikes, they look pretty good. the most I want to spend is only $500-$600....

any suggestions...?
 
There are lots of great bikes, and lots of bad ones. My road bikes are from Cannondale (my fave) and Trek, and my mountain bikes are from Specialized and Gary Fisher. There are plenty of other good ones. The most important thing is to find one that fits you well, so go to your local bike shop (NOT Wal-mart) and try a few out, and pick the one you like best.

I don't currently own a hybrid, but the Treks, Giants and the Konas look really pretty good to me.If you are at 500-600, try to get something with a Tiagra or Deore grouppo, even if you have to settle for a leftover or clearance model. They are a lot smoother and more durable than the low end gear sets.
