I'd like to learn about witchcraft and magick a little more but I know virtually nothing. So I'd like to know which books you would recommend I read. I'd like to understand the history of witchcraft and the basics (such as things like the pentacle, rituals, beliefs...)

It would be great if you could help :)

For some basics on paganism, read "Drawing Down the Moon," and "Dawn Behind the Dawn." Also read anything else you can get your hands on about Wicca and paganism, regardless of whether other people tell you it's worthless. The only way YOU will know what YOU believe is to read everything. Take what helps you, and disregard all the rest. But you have to read it all to know what matters to you. Avoiding books that other people tell you are no good is the same as someone of another religion telling you what you should and should not read. It's censorship and complete and total bullshlt.

In my opinion, Scott Cunningham is one of the best writers for beginning to research Wicca. Avoid Silver Ravenwolf until you've learned a little more, her research is faulty and she advocates things like lying to your parents.

There's also some texts about Wicca online here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/pag/index.htm

And another good site is here: http://wicca.timerift.net/
