I am in AP Eng. Lit.

I've recently read The Kite Runner & A Thousand Splendid Suns and I loved both books.

I need books that are appropriate for reading in my AP Eng. class.

My Sister's Keeper.

A heart-wrenchingly-sad book, but AMAZING WRITING AND PLOT!!!! Awesome twist at the end. Read it.

Not Without My Daughter, by Betty Mahmoody, and William Hoffer.

" In August 1984, Michigan housewife Betty Mahmoody accompanied her husband to his native Iran for a two-week vacation. To her Horror, she found herself and her four-year-old daughter, Mahtob virtualal prisoners of a man rededicated to his Shiite Moslem faith, in a land where women are near-slaves and Americans are despised. Thier only hope for escape lay in a dangerous underground that would not take her child...."

Its a true story.

I'm taking AP Lit as a senior next year-- I can't wait!

I would suggest:
*Emma by Jane Austen
* The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
*Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
* War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy
* Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
*Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
*Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes
*Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
* The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

And to the person that recommended Twilight-- Twilight is NOT a classic. The asker is taking an AP class, which is advanced, and Twilight is the easiest novel you can possibly read with no literary value. If I taught AP Lit and my student chose Twilight to do a project on, I'd give them an automatic F.

Enjoy!
