I'm looking for some really good fantasy books, maybe a series, but nothing too epic (I don't want to be reading something that spans more than 10 volumes unless it's REALLY good). I'm looking to get back into the fantasy genre because since I started high school pretty much I've been enjoying the classics (Les Miserables, Catch22, Hemingway, Steinbeck, etc) but would like to get back into some more modern stuff. Something that really is healthy for my imagination. I want to let it out of it's box I've been keeping it in.
I enjoy fantasy, namely books that have supernatural or magical elements. Twilight came highly suggested my many people, but I was mortified by the writing, so please don't recommend it. I gave it a shot, and really not for me.
Any suggestions? And I'll pretty much take anything, fantasy, classics, or classic fantasies. (I love Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings, btw).
