im moving to morgantown in the fall to attend wvu and id like to get a bike that would take me from one place to another. the thing is morgantown is really hilly all over and id like to know what type and what brand of bike would be best for this? it needs to be good value meaning not expensive.

For hills, obviously you need a mountain bike, preferably with double suspension.
Not knowing your preception of (in)expensive, I would ask as soon as I get there.

Oh my god. Don't listen to the moron that said you need a mountain bike for hills. Mountain bikes are designed for mountains, not hilly roads.

Get a road bike. I wouldn't suggest a single speed because of the hills though, you're gunna want some gears. I woudl suggest looking around on the internet for a cheap road bike.

If you think you can handle the hills go for a Torker U-district. Very cheap, very simple.

i disagree with TexHabsfan, if they are paved roads and you dont go on gravel always pavement you need a road bike, road bikes are better for longer distances, if there is gravel id get a Hybrid bike which is a fusion of a mountain and road bike, more versatility, if its just dirt grass sand etc i would just get a get a mountain bike

You don't have to have a mountain bike to go up hills. And if your not planning to ride off road then you deffinately dont need a dual suspension. it only adds weight and makes it more difficult to climb.
as far as brand goes it doesn't really matter. mainly if you need it to climb easily you just need a triple front crank (three gears in the front) that will certainly help.
you should probably spend a little more money too and go with a quality bike that will last a while. no sense in wasting money on a piece of junk that will only last you a year. good luck!
