What banjo would you recommend to play Sufjan Stevens styled music?

Experienced flat top and classical guitarist, first time banjo player. Looking for a banjo, have no idea what to look for. Want to play songs like Sufjan's style, or like Lauren O'Connell's style. (basically same style) Help? Not too interested in playing bluegrass just yet.
