What authors, preferably contemporary, would you compare my writing style to?

My novel is similar in style, but much darker and more disturbing.
 
Whoa....It's good, it's dark, and it's disturbing. Not something I would normally read, but you've done it wonderfully. I won't even say contemperary, Edger Allen Poe sounds close, though his writing was merely disturbing, not thought-provoking.
