what if one state's same-sex marriage laws had to be recognized nationwide?1. president bush has endorsed an amendment to the constitution to ban same-sex marriage. what difficulties do the advocates of the amendment face in getting it adopted? 2. What impact would widespread same-sex marriage have on American culture generally?

The impact would be the same impact that is going on now,
with same sex couples living together and bringing up a family. Regardless of your oppinion of same sex couples living together and bringing up a family they are doing it and there would be no change in impact if that couple suddenely got married

I don't think it is the place of the government to regulate the intimate lives of any adult citizens, hetero or otherwise.

They should permit a legal partnership between any adults who want it, to cover legal issues such as inheritance, power of attorney in the event of incapacitation, tax filings, etc.

If anyone wants a blessing of some sort...let them choose the manner in which the blessing has meaning to them.

a lot of people look at being gay as bad
because of religion or they think it's wrong.
but
in my opinion, i'm not against people of the same sex being married.
1. it's not me. why does it matter.
2. it's like the whole racial thing. how they got mad that people are using the n. word. what about the gays? how come the black people get the rights and yaddi yadda, but gay people don't.
okay, it's a whole different thing., but the same concept, right?

Although the Constitution says that every state will give full faith and credit to other state's established laws, the Supreme Court has said that in this instance, same-sex marriages in one state are not valid in a state that finds them abhorrent or against public policy. The Constitution does not have to be amended to ban such marriages. That issue is up to the states.
