I was about to post a new message when I saw yours which fitted. I have a very strange symptom and wondered if anyone else has this. I have severe stinging/burning in my mouth. I feel like somebody has emptied a pot of pepper into my mouth. It's horrible. PPIs seem to get rid of the chest heartburn but they dont get rid of the stinging mouth. In fact the only thing that helps are painkiller tablets. Has anyone else experienced this? I get it most of the day every day and it's getting me down, especially as I dont like pepper or peppery fooRAB.
I find that a bad acid reflux flare-up makes me clench my teeth more, and harder than usual. I don't understand what the relation is. I don't think stress (and teeth clenching) is triggering the acid reflux. I think the acid reflux is causing the clenching. I have LPR and GERD.
I have breathing problems and a chronic cough. The acid triggers my asthma at times. I also have some times where I aspirate the acid. Other times the acid hits my throat. I cough for both. A couple years ago, I ended up needing emergency treatment because of the acid that triggered a life-threatening asthma attack.
It took barium testing and pH testing to confirm it really was acid causing these problems.
I clench my teeth. My major symptom is waking up gasping for air because my throat locks up.
For burning on tongue, which I have experienced, I used hydrogen peroxide, gargled, being very careful to not swallow and rinse, rinse and rinse with water. It took care of the burning for me
When I was first diagnosed with reflux three years ago, I used to feel liquid inside my ears which I attributed to allergies but all the "liquid" went away when I was put on a PPI. I also clench my teeth.
