What are your favorite type of characters?

Now there has been many known characters out there that are known like the cute and cuddly, the devious, evil, and etc. So what are your favorite type of characters? My favorite type of character is the silent ones. They don't talk but however their actions depending on their expressions can make u think what they are saying.

Being something of an egghead/tech-head myself, I tend to gravitate towards genius characters. The folks who are tech-savvy, can hack into any computer system and can MacGuyver a paper clip and a rubber band into a battle mech. Examples: Donatello from TMNT, Washu from Tenchi Muyo!, Susan and Mary from Johnny Test.

Also, I like wise-guy characters, the ones who deliver the zingers and give other characters colorful reality checks, provided they never cross over into being jerks, characters who are quick with the quips are often my favorites. Examples: Yakko Warner, Dot Warner and Slappy Squirrel from Animaniacs, Dukey from Johnny Test.

What I call the "Mad Genius" characters: characters who are quite zany and unhinged, but brilliantly so, and live by their own zany Zen. Examples: Daffy Duck, Gogo Dodo from Tiny Toons and Sam & Max, particularly Sam. I know Max is the fan favorite and I like him too, but I enjoy Sam because he unleashes a more controlled anarchy and his dialogue is always so witty.

As many people familiar with my posts know by now, I like attractive mother characters. Particularly the ones who aren't 100% perfect and are a little zany, like Lila from Johnny Test, Franny from Meet the Robinsons and Crystal from My Dad the Rock Star.

Finally, I like girl characters who live in a bubble: the simplistic, material girls whose passions revolve around boys, clothes and trends. They're not in tune with how the real world works, so their shallowness stems more from naivete rather than genuine malice. These characters can be very obnoxious and irritating in the wrong hands, and they're sometimes cast as villains or rivals, in which case they're unbearable, but once in a while you get a decent portrayal of this archetype. A good example of this archetype done well is Charlotte from The Princess and the Frog.

(A subdivision of this archetype that I like is the "babe-in-the-woods" characters; often in sci-fi/fantasy this personality is given to space aliens. Examples: Starfire from Teen Titans and Silver Surfer from Super Hero Squad.)

I like the sarcastic, easily irritated characters like Squidward and Noah from Total Drama Island. I also love the zany characters like any of the Looney Tunes. Also the charismatic funny ones like Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. And of course the diabolically evil villains that make shows and movies great. Like Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, among other Disney villains.

I like comic relief characters for the most part, particulary ones that rely on sarcasm or get themselves into slapstick scrapes due to their loud personallities, or just plain ol' bad luck. If they're able to make me laugh on a regular basis, chances are they'll become my favourite in due time.

One of the best examples, I feel, is Sokka of Avatar: The Last Airbender fame. For the most part, his schtick is to make sarcastic side comments regarding the follies of other characters or the situations they find themselves in (so much so that when he's awol, the other characters try their best, and naturally fail, to fill his shoes), as well as stuff like the cactus juice spectacle, but he was also a very competent person, especially later in the series as he also comes to serve as the go-to guy when the gang need a little wisdom, or to formulate a plan of attack. It was just really cool to see that one comic relief guy recieve so much development over the course of the show, yet still remain the primary source of funny dialogue and antics.

There's also the usual 'animal sidekick' type comic relief that you often get from the disney stable, such as Iago or Louis, that I never fail to find entertaining. It extends to villains too, such as Team Rocket from pokemon or Buggy the Clown from One Piece.

I have a few. :)

1. The silent, mysterious beauty. The character usually keeps to themselves, and there's always some dark past behind them. Think C.C. and Rei Ayanami, and I guess Anya Alstreim.

2. The bad-ass girl. She knows how to be feminine, but can also kick butt.
Think Kallen Stadtfeld, Asuka, Yoko, and Faye Valentine. With most being red heads, oddly enough.

3. The cold calculating type. Extremely intelligent, and never loses his/her cool. Think Azula.

I like a type of character that i think is best examplefied by Charlie Chaplin's Tramp and Felix the Cat (and can be said to apply more or less to a whole lot of silent/golden age cartoon characters). That is, energetic and unconventional characters who mostly just mind their own business and takes each day as they come, are usually quite wide-eyed and happy-go-lucky, aren't afraid to break a few rules to get what they want and are a bit on the selfish side, and can sometimes be downright devious (but no to the extent that the audience looses their sympathy towards them). Basically, they have a kind of childish personality, and display borth the innocence as well as the ego that children do.
