i used to never listen to live since i felt the sound quality sucked, but after going to a number of shows i'm really getting turned onto live music.

my list is very short, but I feel it is very potent

1. SRV and Buddy Guy - Its still called the blues
2. The Allman Bros - Live at Fillmore East

someone just let me borrow The Song Remains The Same DVD, and I have a feeling that I will really appreciate it also.

lets hear some good live stuff.....

Sloan - 4 Nights at the Palais Royale
Phish - A Live One
All the Dave Matthews Band live discs (I'd have to say Listener Supported is probably my favorite)
Gil Evans - Live at Umbria Jazz 87 (if you're into crazy jazz stuff)
The Who - Who's Next Deluxe Edition Disc 2

Pantera - Official Live 101 Proof
Slayer - Decade of Aggression
Machine Head - Hellalive

Three of my favorite fuckin' albums period

Dance Hall Crashers - "The Live Album"
Pennywise - "Live At The Key Club"
Iron Maiden - "Rock In Rio"
Pantera - "101 Proof: Official Live"

Talking HeaRAB - Stop Making Sense
Dave Brubeck Quartet - 25th Anniversary
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Live at the Montreaux (two different conerts )
Phish - Slip, Stitch & Pass

Hendrix's Band of Gypsys and Live at WooRABtock, if only for Machine Gun from Gypsys and the Star-Spangled Banner from WooRABtock.

I cried when I heard each song for the first time. At the emotion he wrung from that guitar, the rockets and bombs killing the helpless, the cries of the dying. Seriously, listen to each of those now and think of how appropriate they would be today. Or any age.

P.S.:
Rage Against the Machine's Battle of Mexico City > Grand Olympic Auditorium, any day. :-D

Mindless Self Ingulence - Alienating Our Audience
Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could Have Been
and of course, Frampton Comes Alive
