I can only comment on Jane Austen and Marquez-I agree, A Hundred Years of Solitude was an excellent novel.

Of Jane Austen, I'd say Northanger Abbey is my favourite, it's very witty and made me laugh. Though I really enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. I haven't read Persuasion or Emma yet, but I detested Sense and Sensibility. It was one of those books where you get half way through and think it can't possibly be as predictable as it seems, so you wait for a twist and it doesn't come-instead it is exactly as predictable as it seems.

I can only comment on Marquez, since I've not read many novels from any of the others (5 novels among the other 10 authors...).

I loved One Hundred Years of Solitude. It was my first magical realistic novel, and the best I've read to date. I loved how he juggled names and characters, and skipped around in such a way as to connect themes and overarching elements, while keeping the reader on his or her toes as to exactly when an event takes place. I absolutely loved it, it's one of my favorite books in general, not just my favorite by Marquez.

Well I don't like 1, 2, 3, 6, or 10. I've never read 5, 7, 9, or 11.

That leaves 4 (Austen) and 8 (Rand).

So far by Jane Austen, it's Pride and Prejudice, and by Ayn Rand it'd be Anthem. (But those are the only ones I read by them, but they're both wonderful, ESPECIALLY Anthem.)
