I prefer to think of my yearly fitness resolutions as goals rather than resolutions, since I'm not trying to change habits as much as I am setting a goal I'd like to accomplish in the upcoming year. That said, the distinction between a goal and a resolution is insignificant when the end is the same—we either want to get in better shape or stay in shape.
In 2006 and 2007, I ran marathons to fulfill my fitness goals (in Chicago and San Francisco, respectively)—after which I described how to hack a marathon to make it as stress-free and painless as possible. (I'm using "painless" loosely, considering the 26.2 miles involved.)

Now that you all know about my fitness goal for 2009, we want to hear about your 2009 fitness resolutions. Hit us up with your plans for getting or staying in shape in '09 in the comments.
Incidentally, if you're looking for a no-nonsense, Lifehacker-approved fitness plan or tool, check out our previous guide to the best tech tools and fitness plans to get in shape.
