What are you roaming on?

I work in Madison, WI and realized that there is no tmo coverage here which was fine since i was roaming on AT&T and had good signal all the time. The problem started like 2 weeks ago when suddenly i started getting Einstein PCS instead of AT&T and when trying to manually connect to ATT, it would say that this is for emergency use only. So now i'm stuck with crappy Einstein PCS that keeps losing signal every other block, even at the airport i barely get one bar.

Would like to know if there are any users out there with the same issue and if there is a way around this. BTW i have a Blackberry Pearl 8100.

Humm, looks like maybe t-mobile lost the agreement with At&t in that area, and this new service picked it up. You can get our of your contract as long as t-mobile provides no service at your address.

That might be an option.

i just tried this where i live which is in Cleveland, OH where i have very good tmobile signal. I went ahead and tried to manually change the network to ATT as well, and received the same message "the network selected is for emergency use only".

so i'm not sure what the problem is now? if ATT blocked me or something else.

yeah i dont get reception at work either, and the only other carrier with ra signal there is AT&T but im stucc on SOS.. so its basically like i dont have a blackberry for 8 hours a day =[

If you are otherwise happy with TMO consider and 8320 or 8120 and a WiFi Router and you will have a great signal (and potentially free calls)

if you are roaming way to much and not using tmobile towers (just like any other carrier) they may drop you, just because it cost so much to use another companies towers. so the wifi services might be the best for you so that way if you start a call on wifi it'll be treated a such even when you get away from your router
