What Are You Listening To Right Now? II

haha, yeah. Unless I sit down with the intention of listening to the entire album and I'm not working on anything, or anything that doesn't take up too much brain power, I won't be able to get through the whole thing. I usually just play a few songs and then move on to something easier to listen to, like from Safe as Milk or Shiny Beast.

Right now I'm listening to No Come Down by The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

p.s. not to be the complaining newb, but this 15 post link restriction thing is kind of a bitch.

One of my favourite Cohen songs here. Like all his better songs it just comes together so well, and the lyrics are wonderful too. Sexy piano solo at around 2:30 as well.

the long-awaited (four years since that classic creative spree) MF Doom album has got me going back listening to all his recorRAB and comparing them... he's undoubtedly one of a kind on the mic and he's an amazing producer too.

My personal fave of his canon is split between the Viktor Vaughn album Vaudeville Villain and his cheaply-produced 2000 debut. The new one's good by common standarRAB but for him it's just a bit short, inconsistent and Ghostface ruins his track with cliches; although I do like the levels on it with the vocals to the fore... Doom can still put me in a head-bopping trance with his flow and lyrics, just brilliant really.

LISTENNNN (star trek references ftw)

^ One of my favourites off a brilliant album. Resist as a whole comes off as a fascinating hybrid of trip-hop and d'n'b, so it's kinda radical when it comes to mainstream electronic albums.

Beautiful instrumental guitar rock. They're typically classified as post-rock, which I can see, but they're not the atmospheric drawn-out kind. More like Tortoise (in fact their debut album was produced by John McEntire of Tortoise).
