What Are You Listening To Right Now? II

I really like "Lady" too, Erica - and agree with you about the appeal of the overall sound: I like the leisurely swing pace and drum sound and the way everything takes a slight "dip" at the "I'm gonna give my love to you" part. Marc Bolan's early death was a tragedy.

The whole album is typically too dense for me to take in one go, so I usually just have a listen through this and consider it done. The whole thing is great if you can fathom it, though, as this album DEFINITELY isn't for everyone. I mean... MY SMILE IS STUCKKKKK THE SUNNNN AND THE MOONNNNNNNNN etc., etc.

No no not the production quality, the style. Hendrix's natural style was a distorted yelping guitar which skipped along a sawblade scream and a bluesy guffaw. SRV tries to copy this with the cover, and like the many other white guitarists who do this they end up doing it wrong.

Fuze could probably overcome the original because he plays everything in this schizophrenic yappering jazz riff which would twist Voodoo Child to sound completely different from the original song.

My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes

Don't know why, I've never been able to get into this band. And don't get the appeal of Loveless but I like this song. I wish I saw what everyone else sees when it comes to Loveless.

Listening to that album:

... some nice creepy music.

^^^ I know I have listened to The Burden of Hope and I really liked it. I am also fairly sure I downloaded Doomsdayers Holiday because I remeraber you were PM'ing me about it and I told you had I sorted a download of it myself.

However I don't seem to have either of them on my hard drive anywhere, which is odd.

Linkage, by any chance?

^ "Shit lives forever!" :D Awesome tune.

As for me, I'm just kicking back to some of this stuff...

^ Gotta say, that's a hell of a voice.

Yeah, that's a good 'un too. They did do some great covers back in the early days, so it's a tough call - Roll Over Beethoven, Please Mr Postman and so on.

Ritual - Waiting By The Bridge

Very tasteful group who keep their proggy tendencies grounded in very sunny folk; wonderful stuff! Plus they got some wicked guitar+bass corabination on this particular track. :)
