For Canadian: Read "Fifth Business" by Robertson Davies

You could compare it to:
A prayer for Owen Meany

Canadian???? good luck, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and A Connecut yankee in king Arthur's court by mark twain is alson pretty good.

as canadian writer I only know Leonard Cohen (that started as a writer) and and Saul Bellow (that's born in Canada).

Greetings fellow Canuck!

May I suggest that you look at the following website as they have book reviews by Canadian authors:

http://www.canadianauthors.net

One book that I know is written by a Spanish born Canadian citizen is Life of Pi by Yann Martel. It is an excellent book, however I am unsure as to another you could compare it to. I have also read Late Nights on Air by Elizabeth Hay, a fellow Canadian author and winner of this year's Scotiabank Giller Prize. It was also a wonderful book. The website will help you find something that fits the criteria, I'm sure!

Good luck and happy writing!
