what are the tests for hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide?

For Hydrogen, the test is to bring a BURNING splint near the gas. The result is that the gas burns with a 'pop' sound.

The GLOWING splint is for oxygen, where the splint rekindles as a positive result.

For CO2, there is no test using a splint. It will extinguish, and Nitrogen would give you the same result, so the splint cannot be used to confirm the presence of CO2.

The test I've read is that you need to pass the gas through lime water. The result is that it the lime water would turn milky.
