Some people get mood swings meaning one day they get happy, and the other day they are so depressed they broke down in tears.

What are common causes that lead to mood swings?

Chemical Imbalance - whether it's hormones (PMS, PCOS or PMDD) or something like depression/bipolar.

Puberty - newly developed hormones raging in teens

Sleep apnea - a sleep disorder where a person stops breathing repeatedly during the night

Those are the three major causes, but there are a few more:

ADHD, Pregnancy, heroin addiction, ALS, Huntington's Disease
and several others which are listed at this link:

depends on the age really...
for teens....mostly when they hit puberty especialy wen they hit there teen years....it also depends on the history of the person and what that person has gone through...if the person has abused drugs in the past then yes there is a possibility for mood swings....most medicine doctors issue the main side affects is mood swings due to unstable hormones in ones body....there can be many reasons for mood swings....not every human is the same.....sum people may detect mood swings for even atittude...

Well I'm not a psychologist but mood swings can be related to a number of things. Mental Illnesses such as Bipolar usually show more severe mood swings. It could also be due to alot of stress or hormones. Drugs can also cause mood swings.
