you could get a visa debit card, it's basically a savings account, that you can use for credit card purchases, so you can only use what is in your account at the time. I'm not sure on the age though you may have to be 16
 
I would go with the Visa card, I know when i had a credit card i had a 2,000 limit and i got excited because i thought i was cool and maxed the credit card out. A visa card has a set amount of however much money you put on there so the child could not go over the limit.
 
...other words, teenager-friendly? I am thinking of getting a credit card but I am thinking, maybe a pre-paid credit card would be more appropriate. What are the pre-paid credit cards that are most suitable for teenagers or in other words, teenager-friendly? What are the benefits of a teenager getting a pre-paid credit card instead of the usual credit card? I am male, 15 years old and I live in Australia by the way.

You really don't need even a prepaid card. Just make sure to have cash in your wallet at all times. If you pay your own cellphone and bills, you can write checks to your parents even at fifteen(I use to be able to). Credit cards are really very useless for anything other than building credit and I don't recommend even starting with a prepaid one.

I only have a card to build credit, and the only time i've used it for a purchase I could not afford was when I put my start up fees for my cell on it.
 
In Australia to get a credit card even if it is a pre paid or in other words a debit card you need your parent to apply for a card and then give the secondary card if one is applied for to a child over 16.
If you are under 16 you can not obtain any kind of credit pre paid or with credit due to not being over 18 years old.
If you don't have a parent that is willing to go guarantor when you turn 16 then there is not way for you to get one. As you are 15 you will not get one at this stage.
