what are the potential problems for a bike that has sat there for 6 years?

Hi, I have been talking with a guy about buiying a bike from him. it is a Honda Superdream CB250 and it has been sitting there for about 5-6 years.

At the moment it doesnt run, but I was looking at it as a possible project to work on during the witner. Being a complete novice to bikes, I was wondering if anyone could let me know what problems might exist on a bike that has been sitting there. Of course I am not asking you to guess or use your spiritual senses to guide me and tell me if the bike is good to buy, just more or less what problems may be associated with a bike that hasnt been run for 5-6 years.

Would love to hear from anyone with expereince in rebuilding bikes

All of them: I bought a Honda a year ago that had been parked for 4 years and all I did was change the gas, oil , and add air to the tires. However, after 2,200 miles and one winter of sitting in my garage it needs paint, mufflers, fork seals, a tachometer cable seal, and the tires started to crack. It looked great until it got used then stuff came to surface. I don't care because I got a good deal and wanted a classic. I ride it almost everyday its above freezing and will address all those issues this winter.
 
Varnish in the carb, tank and petcock. If the engine and gearbox have oil in them and the motor is free (not seized), that will be the most of it. You will need a fresh battery, an oil change, fresh fuel, and probably a lot of rubber parts. You are also likely to encounter some corrosion and dirt in the electrics, but that will more likely surface as minor gremlins once the bike is running.

I don't really want to think about it. I have a bunch of bikes out there that have been sitting a little too long while I ride other stuff.
 
The fuel system will be the most of your work provided that the bike was not in the weather. Rust in the Fuel tank and dried out carbs need to be checked out.
