I know how music most likely started with just banging stones and also probably singing, but how did we ever figure out how to write it down? How did we decide that there would be 8 notes in an octave and all that stuff? Why are there octaves and how does one note in one octave sound the same if you raise the pitch eight notes? I have been pondering these questions and it just amazes me how complex music really is. It seems almost like a mathematical language. It's crazy!!
