well there's a lot of debate on what those battles are but here's a few:
battle of the bulge: hitler's last ditch effort to regain the upper hand in europe. it failed.
german army's march into st. petersberg: the soviet red army's scorched earth policy stretched the german army so thin as to break its back.
battle for midway and battle for guadalcanal: two battles in the pacific that allowed the u.s. to gain valuable fuel and ammo depots in the advance to japan.
d-day: this is the big one that established the allied foothold in europe and started their advance to berlin.
