I own a restaurant and I am planning on/looking into serving hookah in there. I wanted to know what kind of laws are in place in the state of New Jersey in regards on smoking in a establishment that serves food. From what I understand you can not smoke in a establishment where food is served. But I know a number of places in north New Jersey that serve food and you can smoke hookahs while you eat. So can I serve hookah along side with food. If you do not know what a hookah is. It's a water pipe where you smoke flavored tobacco out of.

Restaurants in new Jersey are smoke free.

That means that if you serve food, smoking is not allowed, regardless if the smoking is cigarettes, pipes, cigars, hooka, joints, crack, or whatever.

there are tons of places (in nyc at least) that serve food along with hooka. i know nyc and nj laws are very similar (no smoking in establishments, etc) if not the same, but you can always look to come to nyc instead of nj. it's just a hop skip and a jump away and it's always booming inside these little types of lounges

in order to allow smoking a certain percentage of your business must come from the sale of tobacco products.. that is how cigar bars get around the no smoking rule.. you can also allow smoking if your business is a private club..
