What is the list of classes a student needs to take for general educatin? And i'm going to foothill college in los altos hills, California. Is it a good idea to just do the general education and follow the transfer program at foothill then transfer to do the prerequisites for the nursing program at San francisco state?

Yes it is good to do the general education and follow the transfer program. You need to achieve 60 Transferrable units. You need to complete a college level math course, usually College Algebra or Statistics. You need to complete one to two college english classes. It's usually English Composition. That would be where you'd learn about MLA format. You would need two science course, life science and environmental science, (earth science), basically Geology and Biology. You'd need a speech class, and a political science class. And possibly a foreign language class. There are a few requirements that I may be missing, but there is usually a financial person who is at the college who could tell you where you need to go.
