For example does the man have to have a certain salary? Do you have to show you have a certain amount of money in the bank? or certain amount of assets? How long does it take from the time paper work is done to the time a spouse can be brought over to the USA? and if the sponsoring fiance has a son 14 years of age for example do those financial requirements change?

You do not need a large sum of money in the bank. But you will need to show prof that you can support your finace/spouse at 125% above the poverty line. Yes children does effect this amount. If it is you, your son, and your finace. then they would look at a household of 3. I am going to cut and past the income guidlines for 2009.
Good luck

The Immigration will require that you submit tax returns of three previous years and the previous answerer was right regarding financial income above poverty level. You will as well be providing statements of your bank account/s, assets if there's any and if your divorce, the divorce decree.

The K-1 file visa is faster and in the event if you're not compatible with your fiancee within the period of 90 days unless am mistaken, you take her yourself to the airport and make sure that she gets on board with her flight back to her country.
