What are the ethical considerations for a vicar when discussing your family member?

We, that is the children and children in law, believe that 'mother' is in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's.
I wish to discuss this with the vicar of her church who knows her well and sees her every Sunday, if not more frequently.
Would it be appropriate to ask for his help and observations?
'Mother' has talked about moving into sheltered accommodation but we need to know what type will be best for her so that she can be guided to make the right decisions.
Would her vicar be able or unable to provide moral support and / or guidance to her?
 
I do think that the vicar would be more than happy to give you spritual guidance during this difficult time. I would definately seek his help. God Bless...
 
The decision to consult or not consult the vicar would best be left to "Mother" provided she is still capable of making her own decisions. If she has as close a relationship as you describe, she would probably welcome his advice and support.
