I can only answer this question from a witness perspective. I have a loved one that has been on methadone maintenance for 5 years. All I can say is that he recently had all his teeth removed (or what was left of them), matter of fact 3 weeks ago. Granted, he had a few minor problems before methadone but nothing serious. He also brushed his teeth often throughout the day and night and his teeth just deteriorated little by little. I have no idea why and have never researched if it could be a side effect. Funny though I usually research everything. All I know is what I witnessed first hand. I hope this helps even though it may not be the news you would like to hear.
