What are the core values and beliefs in the United States culture?

i really don't know. America was supposed to be a place where people respected each other and we lived freely. but now because of gangs, peer pressure and other causes, good virtues and looked down upon as being weak. I really can't think of any good values that are abided by most of the country
 
I mean descriptors in US culture such as generous, interdependent, family oriented, hierarchical etc. For example please don't say "negligence" as Americans don't aspire to be negligent. Thank you!!
 
well.. its hard to speak for americans because were a nation based on different ethnicities! thts why were america =] different families have different values, etc. but for mine, we pride family oriented activities, loyalty, humor, hardworking, corn beef on st pattys day, turkey n cranberries on thanxgiving, etc.
