I am researching current generation GM engines (2000 and later),
what GM engines stand out for the reliability and longivity? What engines
stand out for being problem childs?
3800 Series II V6 is one of the best engines in the world, as far as what i have read, and i have it in my grand prix GT and its fast and its running great, it makes no noise, and they have been known for over 200,000 miles easily..

3.8liter is a good 6 cylinder, the 262 is also a good six. As far as 4's you shouldn't use thoes. The 5.3 (327?) is a well built motor, and the vortec 350 was a workhorse. the 454 in a 2000 chevy 3500HD works like a mule. great motor for pulling a load.
