What are the best ways to have safe sex?

Obviously abstinence is the best way, which I'm still considering waiting until marriage on that. Even if I were to get married in a few years, I'd still want to wait on having children.

I want to learn more about the other options though and their side effects. I don't want to use anything that would jeopardize the health of my future kids. I also want to be safe as I can be in preventing kids for the moment.

I've been dating my boyfriend for a year now, and we're madly in love (not to mention, madly horny as well). We're both halfway through college.

you sound really smart. well there are several types of birth control out there, like the pill, the patch, the ovra ring, and so on. they of course have their side affects which are minor. i am planning on going on the pill, because its less complicated and more common, and extremely safe. So good luck. ♥

Get on birth control. It will NOT jeopardize the health of future children. It's completely safe in that regard. Side effects are usually about a 5 pound weight gain and maybe some headaches and breakthru bleeding in the beginning, nausea, stuff like that. It all goes away after a few months, and then you are left with lighter periods that are also shorter.

Condoms are also very effective when used properly. Tho if you are in a committed monogamous relationship with someone who is either a virgin as well or has been tested and come up clean, then birth control is your best bet.
