Several companies (Columbia, REI, etc.) make lightweight nylon pants that have zip off legs (to make shorts). I own a couple pairs - they are light and dry easily.

I like the idea of wool pants, but can't find any in my local stores, even walmart?
I'm not doing any winter camping, so all I need are light pants, no serious insulation.

Yea I would go with the Convertible (Zip-off) pants, this way you have shorts and Pants. I know Ex-Officio has an Amphibious Pair, they dry super quick, are extremely light and have a mesh liner like a bathing suit, so you wouldn't need underwear under them either. But EMS, Campmor, REI, pretty much any major outdoor retailer will have their makes of the Convertible pants.
