What are the best books / films / websites for learning about US Politics?

I'm teaching A2 American Politics (in London, to a class of 17-18 year olds): i'd like to know especially from Americans of all political persuasions which resources you would recommend and why. Thanks!

The National Equirer...all sorts of stories about cheatiing, hookers etc, so that covers the Republcans and Conservative hypocrites and Mad magazine covers the Democrats.

You can't teach american politics because it's like swallowing a pile of dog sh*t. Most people hate it but some people are reaaaaally into that sort of thing. Just forget about it, UK politicians are better anyway.

You can go ahead and ignore me, but understand that the kids you teach will see this whether you tell them or not.
