As a former bio major from a good school myself, the upside is an all encompassing education of life; from animals to plants and ecosystems. You won't get this with a specific health science major like anatomy, physiology, or biochemistry.
The downside is a serious lack of jobs for grads with a bachelor's degree, and you might find the scope of studies perhaps TOO large! (I know that I didn't care much for memorizing plant structure!)
On the whole though, if you're interested in it, go for it. There are immense opportunities for further studies in medical fields or for graduate studies.
