cold air intake will help your truck take in more air where as a stock air filter box is restrictive with air flow, a chip will recalibrate the ecm to make the tranny shift firmer,air to fuel will be more optimized etc. and a cat back exhaust will help your truck exhale better and all are great for performance. hope this helps
 
depending what state your in it's the benefits the mechanics get, as in having a job, especially when they get to put it all back to stock when you discover you cant pass an emission test. and if there smart mechanic's there putting all there extra money in there pockets instead of blowing it on over engineering an engineer
