what would some of the benefits if i join the army, like if i join the medical corp cause i wanna be a doctor. How would that help me if i do join and make it?

don't listen to that civilian. The funny thing is my unit just came back from Iraq and 90% of us want to go back. Not just because you get serious pay out of being over seas. But its just fun there. There are not many 9 to 5s out there that get to do what we do. I'm a 91D which is a gnerator mechanic..do you know what I do all day? Sit around talking about football. In this economy how great is it to get paid to talk about football? Of course there are actual benefits like amazing life insurance (mine is $400,000 but you can select less) full medical, dental, and they pay for your college if you do online courses and maintain a 2.0 GPA. That's on top of the new New GI bill that congress reworked after you get out. Now, some soldiers and units do work hard everyday mine is no exception (except for the last 2 weeks lol) but its a great job if you can put up with the diverse personalities and egos that come with it.

Go to college. Be smart about it and go to a state university, unless you can get a scholarship for a more expensive one. Take loads of science and math. Major in Pre-Medicine or at least something that has the same classes.

Graduate with good grades. NOW call an Army AMEDD recruiter. They can help you with your existing loans, and get your tuition paid for or mostly paid for for medical school. You could go Reserves at this point, or wait until you are done with school. You could even go to the military's free medical school:

You won't hit the Army until you graduate, and you do your residency through the Army's hospitals. You would come into the Army as an officer.

If you have no resources for college right now, you could enlist as a combat medic and then use the GI Bill for college and medical school. It would slow you down by three or four years, but you'll have some life experience and some money saved up, if you are smart about deployment money.

It's not worth it. Any benefits are far surpassed by the disadvantages. You risk your own life on a pointless war that is not going to benefit our country in the end.

well lets see you get a 500 thousand dollar life insurance policy for next to nothing. the new 9/11 gi bill is pretty sweet. contrary to popular belief the food isn't that bad. you get deployed and you'll be banking. i'm not going to say doctors jobs are easy they do some pretty tough stuff but y'all definitely aren't stuck out in the field doing stupid stuff. a word of warning fort Sam Houston is a hell hole with an ungodly wash out rate. i have several friends that had to reclass from a medical mos. oh, yeah another benefit, that warm feeling you get when you read somebody bashing our military and you realize that your helping fight for their right to do that.
