What are some ways that a big group of people can help the environment with?

My church is doing an event where all the high school kids have to do a door that will improve the earth. I am doing environment.

What are some ways that a BIG GROUP of people can help the environment with?
Please do not list things that individuals can do by themselves, I already have that section covered.
 
tree planting comes to mind. it's been done many many times but what is sadly lacking is the maintenance. we must remember that if we really want to be kind to our enviornment it's not enough that we plant these trees but we have to maintain and care for them too. maybe that could be the focus of your project. no need for additional trees to be planted but to tend and care for what's already out there.
