What are some suggested off-the-beaten-path books for a teen?

My reading list has dwindled, and I need to stock it up. My problem is that I don't like the shallow sappy love stories that fill the young adult section. Some of my recent reads and favorites include:

The Uglies Trilogy, as well as the Extras
Harry Potter
Speak
Cut
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Lovely Bones

Hold Still is next on my list.

I'm also open to anything in the Adult section.. within reason, of course.
