What are some programs like "Adobe After Effects" or "Sony Vegas Pro"?

What are programs that can do the basic effects (for video) and put videos together. NOT WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER! If possible can it be a little less confusing... (dont give me tutorials please).
im looking for something:
-easier to work
-basic but with effects of sunlight and cool stuff like that.
